PROFESSIONAL BOOK COVER DESIGN
Creating Print Ready Book Cover Designs for authors
Having a book cover design made for either a paperback, hardback or even a dustjacket can seem a little scary to the first time (or even experienced) author, this is why so many brilliant authors have chosen to use us to take the strain out of the process and design a beautiful ‘Print-Ready’ book cover for them.
Our experience in working with all of the major publishing services and many independent publishers shows, we have the understanding, knowledge and skills to ensure that your book cover design is created to the correct technical specifications, regardless of color models, ink level limitations, trim & bleed sizes and any other requirement that your publisher may need.
The first stage in making your cover will be the consultation, this will involve us getting as much detail about your book from you as possible, we have a client brief questionnaire (which we use with all of our clients), we also like to keep in regular contact via email.
Next, we’ll create your drafts based around the consultation and research completed having them ready for you to inspect within seven to fourteen business days (depending on your chosen package), then when you’re ready, we’ll then discuss any tweaks that you may want to make and adjust accordingly.
Finally, we deliver your completed files ready for upload to your chosen printer as 'Print-Ready' PDFs with any promotional images as JPEGS or PNG files ready for use on your website or Social Media channels.
For your next book cover, come to the experts at JD&J Design.

Making a PDF for your book cover
A ‘Print-Ready’ PDF is how the publishing industry will expect to have your book cover delivered to them, it’s flattened and has the fonts used within your design embedded into it. For most services it will also need to be created in CMYK and (in some cases) have the ink levels adjusted to the specific parameters of the printer.
We use the latest in industry leading publishing and photo-manipulation software along with a host of other design tools from Adobe, this allows us to deliver book designs that are compatible throughout the printing and publishing world with the highest quality and peace of mind for all of our clients.
